I've had a day or two to think about this British Open and now feel ready to make this somewhat bold statement - I think this was his greatest major victory since the Masters in 1997.

I can be more critical of Tiger Woods than anyone on the planet and my beliefs have some merit. Either Woods doesn't recognize his sociological impact on not just golf or sports, but the world, or he doesn't acknowledge it. Either one is borderline irresponsible.

 

This was Woods' first win since his father Earl died in early May. Woods acknowledged Sunday afternoon that he was upset that he did not win the Masters because he knew it would be the last major Earl watched. He came back too soon and over Father's Day weekend none the less at the U.S. Open and missed the cut for the first time as a professional in a major.

 

He couldn't help himself on Sunday. I count myself among the fortunate because my dad is alive and well, driving my mom crazy and complaining about the high price of everything.
