Astros outfielder arrested on marijuana charge

10/04/2011 - Tampa, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Houston Astros outfielder Jordan Schafer was arrested early Tuesday and charged with a felony count of marijuana possession.

Schafer was arrested at 12:34 a.m. (et) in Tampa and booked over an hour later. He was released at 5:15 a.m. on $2,000 cash bond.

According to the arrest report, officers in an unmarked car smelled the odor of marijuana from a vehicle and saw the driver smoking a marijuana blunt. Schafer, the vehicle's driver, admitted to smoking marijuana and having more of the drug in his possession.

Police searched the vehicle and located a plastic container with 25.9 grams of marijuana. Schafer was arrested without incident and transported to jail.

Because the amount exceeded the 20-gram limit for a misdemeanor, Schafer was charged with a third-degree felony.

Schafer was traded from Atlanta to Houston in a package that saw Atlanta land outfielder Michael Bourn.

Upon learning of Schafer's arrest, the Astros released a statement and said they would have "no comment as this is a police matter."

Schafer appeared in 30 games for the Astros and in 82 combined games this season hit .242 with two homers and 13 runs batted in.

What team does your opponent root for? Accuse a Giants fan of having a Joe Namath pillowcase. Wheres your opponent from? Give a look of concern no matter his reply, then say, I'll try to type slower for you next time. Is your opponent into politics? Label everyone a tax-and-spend corporate shill.

Cap all that with a liberal application of irrelevance. For instance, dont just conclude by saying your opponent is a twerp who drafts like my grandmother. Say that your opponent is a sweater-wearing, eyebrow-plucking twerp who drafts his team about as well as Zsa Zsa Gabor gave acceptance speeches at the Oscars. By the time your foe makes sense of that, his starting running back will have had puppies.
