Keith Yandle scored the lone goal for the Americans, who will look for their first win on Wednesday against Finland in Group D play.

In Group B play, John Tavares and Marc Giordano each scored twice as Canada dominated Latvia, 6-1.

Corey Perry had three assists while Steven Stamkos and Steve Downie each had a goal for the Canadians, who got 12 saves from Chris Mason over the first two periods and 11 stops on 12 shots from Chad Johnson in the third period to improve to 2-0 in group play.

Georgijs Pujacs scored the lone goal for the Latvians, who have dropped their first two games by a combined score of 9-2. Edgars Masalskis stopped 17-of-21 shots while Martins Raitums made nine stops on 11 shots in the loss.

The other Group D game on Monday saw Petri Vehanen stop all 28 shots he faced to post Finland to a 1-0 win over Germany.

Jarkko Immonen scored the lone goal for the Finns, who got an assist from Jussi Jokinen on the goal.

Robert Zepp stopped 36-of-37 shots in the loss for the Germans, who play undefeated Denmark on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day at Mannheim, Martin Gerber stopped 15 shots to help Switzerland blank Italy, 3-0.

Martin Pluss, Thibaut Monnet and Damien Brunner each had a goal for the Swiss, who moved to 2-0 in Group B action.

Daniel Bellissimo made 49 saves for the Italians, who were coming off a 5-1 loss at the hands of Canada on Saturday.
